HEALTH SERVICE AVAILABILITY MAPPING ALONG TRANSPORT CORRIDORS

March 01, 2017

Truck stops along transport corridors are among HIV high-risk zones given the documented ongoing levels of unprotected sex with multiple concurrent partners in these localities. Populations residing in such spaces of vulnerability are at a higher risk of exposure to HIV and therefore must be targeted with comprehensive migrant‐sensitive health services within a combination prevention approach if we are to significantly impact the HIV response. This report describes the unique HIV vulnerabilities and health service access struggles that populations in spaces of vulnerabilityconfront; outlines the strengths and weaknesses of existing health service providers; and describes the friendly health services package as perceived by the migrants and host communities at various truck stops along the Kampala-Juba transport corridor.Download
